LARGE AND IN CHARGE

When watching all the police being deployed during the EFF’s so-called shutdown, I was reminded how cricketer Dane van Niekerk was not selected because she was 18 seconds over the required time of nine minutes 30 seconds for a 2km run. I doubt if many of our boys in blue could run 200m in that time. Do our policemen and women ever have to submit to fitness tests or do they just get larger each year? Just asking.

SIMPLE SOLUTION

While we are awaiting the removal of pit latrines, why not avoid potential accidents using the simple stratagem of inserting a stainless steel grille between the seat and the hole? The bars could be made wide enough to allow the debris, but not children, to slip through. Oops! I forgot ... the grilles would be stolen.

MANI MANI MANI

Ms Mani, is it now a requisite that you must be criminally charged for a public post now? Maybe that is the reason so many applicants don’t make the shortlist?

MALAIKA FOR PRESIDENT

Until now, I have generally believed the description of Malaika wa Azania’s column depicting her as a revolutionary. I know she has some pretty outspoken political views on occasion. Her column on Wednesday regarding the election of Sibongile Mani as Walter Sisulu University treasurer puts Malaika firmly in the running for president. If every politician in this country were to adhere to this lady’s values, regardless of their political persuasion, we would be truly blessed.
